Wrights and DRISA Press Release

Johannesburg, South Africa – [August 19th, 2025] – Dental Recycling International South Africa (DRI-SA) and Wrights reaffirm their commitment to supporting South African dental practices as new DFFE mercury regulations officially went into effect on March 31, 2025. Over the past three years, between the free equipment and services provided plus our investment in waste management technology support, as a result of the the DRI-SA and SADA agreement we have invested more than R10 million in bringing our comprehensive technology/service/disposal, turn-key solution to the market.

To assist dentists with compliance, DRI-SA is offering R25,000 in free equipment to SADA members who enroll in the DRI-SA Amalgam Recycling Program before September 1, 2025. This represents a direct investment in the dental sector, projected at over R12.5 million in value should 500 practices sign up in the coming weeks.  We at DRI-SA see our investment as a long-term solution to successful ongoing business as well as contributing to the sustainability of South Africa by reducing mercury in the environment.

“Rolling out this program on a global scale has required years of experience in installation and service,” said Marc M. Sussman, Managing Director of DRI-SA. “We knew that choosing the right service partner in South Africa was critical. If these installations are not done correctly, it can result in downtime for dentists, which is simply not an option. Wrights has proven to be the ideal service partner. Their expertise and integration with our team has ensured reliable installations at a fixed and reasonable cost. Their only revenue comes from initial installation, which means they have to get it right—and they do.”

This said, DRI-SA is open to any qualified installer providing their services in the marketplace as well as providing disposal services for other amalgam separator technology.

By partnering with Wrights and working with other qualified installation companies, DRI-SA ensures that South African dentists not only meet the legal requirements of the National Environmental Management Act (NEMA) regulations but also do so with a streamlined, affordable, and dependable service model.

This initiative underscores DRI-SA’s role not as a company profiting from regulation, but as an early adopter and advocate for compliance—helping South African dentists avoid costly fines and disruptions while promoting environmental responsibility.

By taking on this significant undertaking, DRI-SA have positioned ourselves as true industry leaders—demonstrating foresight, responsibility, and dedication to the dental community. The partnerships DRI-SA has developed will ensure that compliance is not a burden but a seamless extension of practice operations, backed by trusted support. When you combine these elements with DRI-SA’s disposal service, South African dental practices have a full turn-key compliance solution.
