With the Department of Forestry, Fisheries, and the Environment (DFFE) regulations officially in effect as of March 31, 2025, every dental practice in South Africa is now required to implement proper amalgam waste management systems. This includes the use of ISO 11143-compliant amalgam separators and chairside amalgam kits to ensure compliance with the Minamata Convention on Mercury.
